In the CMAT-2026 cycle, NTA set 100 questions across five sections of 20 each, carrying 400 marks in all. Each question carried 4 marks, 1 mark was deducted for each incorrect response, and unanswered questions got no marks. Innovation and Entrepreneurship was one of the five scored sections, counted in the 400-mark total like the other four. The exam was a Computer Based Test in English only, with a total duration of 180 minutes. ## How does CMAT preparation fit into the CAT programme? At T.I.M.E. Coimbatore, CMAT is taught inside the CAT programme rather than as a separate course. The AIMCMAT mock series is included, and post-CMAT GD and PI preparation is provided. NTA notes that a participating institution's selection procedure may comprise Group Discussion and Personal Interview. ## Who can take CMAT, and where? For CMAT-2026, NTA required a bachelor's degree in any discipline; final-year students whose results would be declared before admissions began could also apply. Candidates had to be citizens of India, and there was no age restriction. Coimbatore was one of the exam cities candidates could choose. The CMAT score is accepted by all AICTE-approved institutions, and candidates apply separately to each participating institution, which releases its own cut-off score. ## Frequently asked questions ### Does T.I.M.E. Coimbatore run a separate CMAT course? No. CMAT preparation is part of the CAT programme, not a standalone course, and the AIMCMAT mock series is included. ### When is CMAT 2027? NTA's examination calendar of 16 September 2026 lists CMAT on 7 February 2027, as a tentative date. NTA says the calendar is not a notification for any particular exam; as of 1 October 2026 it had not published the CMAT 2027 Information Bulletin or opened registration. ### Does the Innovation and Entrepreneurship section count? Yes. In CMAT-2026 it carried 20 questions and 80 marks inside the 100-question, 400-mark total, like each of the other four sections. ### Is there negative marking in CMAT? Yes. In CMAT-2026, 1 mark was deducted for each incorrect response, against 4 marks for a correct one. Unanswered questions got no marks. ### Does NTA publish a CMAT syllabus? No. NTA's CMAT-2026 Information Bulletin names the five sections and their marks, but publishes no syllabus. ### Which mock series does T.I.M.E. use for CMAT?
